The New and old aspect of Bukcheong sajanoreum
From ancient times, the lion dance has been the symbol of bravery and it has given the people joy and relief with satire by punishing the impious acts. Isn't this lion dance necessary even in modern times? The vertical relationship is now a reality. Today, such a relationship is referred to as the “KapEul” relationship, which is an illusion. It is a dance that is a modern reinterpretation based on the text of the ‘Bukcheong sajanoreum’, under the premise that human life is different, but inequality and absurdity are repeated as if it were reoccurring.
Founded in 2014, the ’Dance Project EGERO’ aims to express inner thoughts and feelings with movement through various collaborations regardless of genres. The Korean group name ’EGERO’ is a combination of ’EGE’ and ’Ro’, meaning the point of arrival of an action. The performers aim to convey the feeling of language to the audience. Currently, As a resident organization of Busan Democracy Park, it is working within the Busan Cultural Foundation resident organization support project. ‘Seongnam Sotdae’, a cooperative organization, is a traditional arts performance group created in the Seongnam region in 1996.
